SUE KINGSTON EXHIBITION, 28 MAY-3 JUNE, 2022

This summer artist Sue Kingston welcomes us to her exhibition of land and seascapes.

“Over the past two years I have enjoyed walking the north Norfolk Coastal paths between Snettisham and Sheringham at different times of day and in different seasons,” she says. “I have also climbed mountains in the Scottish Highlands and been rambling in Cornwall and Devon. These are the places that form my ideas for painting.”

Sue is primarily self-taught and paints mostly with watercolour.  She has been an artist for over 40 years and still finds a challenge in every new painting.

“For me, it is not about perfection, or even composition, but more about finding some magic, or mystery, that indefinable quality which brings the painting to life.”

Sue is inspired by open spaces or trees, especially during the seasons of autumn and winter, noticing changes in the way the light falls and the shapes that are created between the branches, like the silence between the notes in a piece of music.

See Sue’s exhibition 11am-4pm, 29 May to 3 June 2022 at West Acre Gallery.
