CALL FOR ARTISTS, SAVE THE DATE & MORE!

Call for artists, save the date and more! Exciting plans for the coming year with a few words from our new gallerist Esther Wildsmith…

Now the doors have closed on Abbey’s wonderful exhibition “New Earth” it is time for me to reveal the plans for the Gallery’s future:

Much will stay the same – the vision I have is to continue where Abbey leaves off, creating an inclusive and dynamic space where diverse forms of  art converge, igniting meaningful dialogues between artists, collectors and the community. The space will continue to provide a nurturing and immersive environment that celebrates innovation, cultural diversity and social change through collaboration, providing a platform for emerging and established artists to showcase their work and nurtures the local and not-so-local art scene along with the established network of creatives living and working in and around Abbey Farm.

“Tabula Rasa”: I am starting with a personal-to-me exhibition. 11 artists, all of them Norfolk based, will come together for our (re)launch exhibition ” Tabula Rasa” (new beginnings), which will open on 11th October and run from 12th to 31st October. This is a one-off mixed exhibition of work on the wall and unframed in the browsers, you are warmly invited to the Private View/Welcome event which will be held on Friday 11th October at 6pm till 8pm.

Call for artists! I am also planning another open exhibition later in the year so if you have exhibited before, or thought about it, please get in touch to find out more, I am so looking forward to meeting you and working with you on future exhibitions and collaborations! Details and application process available on request.

Exhibitions, open for bookings! If you would like to hire the space for your own exhibition, please get in touch – bookings are now open! If you have your own exhibition at the gallery, would you be interested in hosting a demonstration or workshop on a Sunday? It would be great to create a Sunday buzz around the space!

Christmas Art & Craft Fair: Would you like to book a stall for our Christmas Art & Craft Fair taking place on 30th Nov and 1st Dec? – please get in touch to book a stall. We encourage artists and makers who have sustainability at their heart – so, please, no plastics (Compostable plastic and re-use bags are ok!) and we are looking for stallholders who make everything they sell themselves. We will be holding regular fairs in collaboration with the other local businesses around the farm spread across the year.

Workshops: I am planning a whole series of creative workshops and will be releasing a programme of events soon – but I am still looking for artists who could teach art classes for adults and/or children, so please reach out if you think that’s something you might be interested in.

Sustainability and protecting the environment:  If you can walk, cycle or take the bus to the Gallery, or if you can offer a lift to others in your car when you visit, you will earn yourself a discount for future bookings.

Membership: Would you be interested in becoming a member/supporter of the gallery? For a small fee you will get a benefits package (still working on the details!). Two levels of membership will be available, watch this space for further information!

Funding: I am busy applying for funding so I can host events, workshops and exhibitions for all budgets. To help with this it would be great to have your thoughts on how the gallery could be used to benefit the community. Please reach out with your contributions!

Following the official opening and Private View on 11th October, the Gallery and shop will be open each week Wednesday to Sunday 10 am till 4pm – later by appointment. I look forward to meeting you in the Gallery soon!

Best wishes, Esther
